Marc Stein is reporting the two sides are about to work out an extension, which would keep Camby and the Blazers together for reportedly 2 years at about $10 million a year, a slight $1 million raise from his current contract.

Two things to take away from this:
    1) Camby wants to be here, and how great of a tutor could he be for Oden?
    2) If there is "so much turmoil" in the Trail Blazers front office, then why would these types of moves be taking place? Just something to think about. Maybe the media has overblown yet another Blazer story?

Sources: Blazers hope to sign Camby

Very good to hear. He definitely has earned a raise. It seems like every single night he either gets 17 rebounds or plays stellar defense or shocks us with an offensive outburst. We are contenders, legit contenders, next year with a healthy lineup
I think this spells the end of Przybilla though, esp after his 2nd injury to the same knee. He could be great trade bait at the trading deadline though as he is an expiring and insurance could pick up 80% of his contract if he doesn't play in 41 games.

That would be really sweet to get Marcus signed for two more years.  I agree, it would only improve Gregs performance and continue to bring trusted experience to the rest of the team.  I am so proud of these boys the way they handle adversity and continue to bring a "never say die" approach to their game.
I'd also like to say how proud I am to be part of the greatest group of fans in all of professional sports.  We really are a large part of this teams success. Toot Toot. ( My horn)  Take time to read PHX's website and you will hear the fans arguing with each other.  A real class act................Marcus Camby

With a healthy Greg, all we need now is a scorer off the bench at the 4 spot..bring back Travis?

Sounds great to me! Every once in a while a player comes along who immediatley impacts the way the Blazers play and with Camby this is the case...and a positive impact it was :-) My wishes: Re-sign Camby, trade or sell Joel, KEEP Greg and try to get Travis back.

    peace out,
    daddy

    3 guard rotation of Bayless/Miller/Roy
    Batum/Webster manning the SF spot
    Post rotation of Aldridge/Camby/Oden
That's an 8 man rotation right there..I'd love to see us go out and get 1 more dynamic piece off of the bench..hopefully Travis

The money isn't the big deal for me, its how we kept the length of the contract. 2 years is perfect for a 36 year old center.
Anyone think outside of the money, those chants had something to do with him wanting to extend instead of heading out into free agency?

I'm sure it didn't hurt. Playing for a team thats going to be in the hunt and in the playoffs, I think he likes the group of guys he's playing with right now. With this information leaking to the public I think he's gonna get a little extra from the fans come player introductions game 3. Honestly, having David Lee and Camby was going to be enough for James to sign in NY? Please.

Camby for two more years is OFFICIAL!

Here is a snippet of the Press Release:
The Portland Trail Blazers have signed forward/center Marcus Camby to a two-year contract extension, it was announced today by General Manager Kevin Pritchard. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Camby posted averages of 7.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.13 steals, 2.04 blocked shots and 31.2 minutes in 23 games (all starts) with the Trail Blazers this season. He ranked second in the NBA in rebounds (11.8), fifth in blocked shots (1.97) and eighth in steals-to-turnover ratio (1.04) for 2009-10.

“Portland felt right to me since I got here and the support from the team, fans and organization has been incredible,” said Camby. “I’m looking forward to continuing my career as a Trail Blazer and think this team can do something special.”

Another day it is great to be a Blazer !!
I agree with a comment up there ^^ about bringing Blake back this off season, (as a back up) . But not letting Bayless go.  Imo,  he could be a hybrid Roy/Miller combo when Nate is done brow beating him to get the cocky out.  Love his fire and defense !
I tune out all the " Bayless isn't a true pg " noise.

    Go Blazers !!!

What a terrific move.  To have two more years with Andre' (assuming the team option is picked up) and Marcus, and then getting Greg (and maybe Joel) back - with LaMarcus all signed up, we will have a massive front line on defense, and a guy who knows how to get them the ball on offense.

Then Nic at the 3, backed up by Martell, and Brandon at the 2 backed up be either Rudy or Jerryd...

Not to mention probable development of Jeff and Dante'...

Now, all we need is a great up-and-coming PG to learn from Andre' the way Greg will have a chance to from Marcus, so that in two years (if we haven't won it all by then) we're positioned for the next 5!

I wonder if there is a young point guard who can Finnish out there.  ;-)

How about this for a lineup next year?

    Starters    Backup
    Roy    -      Fernandez
Miller -      Blake (bye bye Bayless)
    Batum -     Webster
    Aldridge -  Camby
    Oden -      Pryzbilla

Super subs - Pendegraph, Howard and Cunningham

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...
