As a Blazer fan, I watch the games pretty closely.  Brandon Roy was losing close games for the team at the end.  It was very frustrating to see him walk the ball up the half court pedestrian style when they needed to score quickly down by five  points with a minute left in the game.  Then he would dribble until the clock hit eight seconds and try to force the ball down the middle for an implssible shot or an attempt to get a foul.  In addition, the opposing team knew this and they would have a zone defense and collapse with 2 to 3 players when the shot clock went to 10 seconds.  Roy would not even bother using his teammates or look their direction.

If one looks at the stats for the last game, you can see that everybody had multiple assists.  They are a better team without him this year and I expect them to compete for the western conference championship if Roy stays on the bench.

You can hear Camby calling out the other teams offensive plays on the court.  McMillan should realize that the other team knew that Roy was going myopic and could collapse with 2 to 3 defenders and make portland turn the ball over or have a poor shot selction.

While the ball movement may be crisper without Roy, I think it is still foolish to believe this team is "much better" without a top-10 player in the league. Sure we can play well in stretches without Brandon, but over long periods of time, the play will start to deteriorate without his play-making ability. Also, you must remember he still isn't 100% and that was before the meniscus. I have no doubt the team will make life miserable for their 1st round opponent with or without Brandon, but he needs to be here 100% for the long-term success of the franchise.

Is the Lakers better without Kobe Bryant? There is more ball movement without him there. In the last 3 minutes the ball is in his hands and he holds the ball for a while before making a move. At the end of the game when it's on the line you want the ball in your best players hands.

When you're 5 points down and it's within 3 minutes you are in a 7-8 possession game. You want the most eff shot and you have to trust your defense. This is also coaches game as well.

But I'm curious, where were you last year when Roy was the most eff player within 3 minutes when the game is on the line? I also believe he's top 3 this year in that category behind Kobe Bryant.

The stats do not agree.  Blazers record without Roy this year is sub .500.

I agree that the ball movement is better, but any team has better ball movement without their offensive focal point.  Kobe, Lebron, Durrant.  When they're out, other players play better to compensate, so it seems the team is better, but really, their improvement doesn't fully make up for the the loss of the great player.

No team is better missing an offensive weapon in the playoffs. BUT this team does run more without Roy. Not bad or good, but Roy will always play at his pace.
I want to hear what all the  " experts" who don't give them a chance now have to say next week.

    Go Blazers !!!!

Nice Idea but I think the TWolves trade is very lobsided in our favor

Derrick Williams and Budinger are proven players in the league. Claver and Freeland are not

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
