Personally, I think it is going to be a race between Nate, Scotty Brooks of the Thunder, George Karl from Denver, Scott Skiles of the Bucks, and Utah's Jerry Sloan. I get a little agitated with all the media love Brooks is receiving. His team won't even get home court advantage and only missed 3 games due to injury.

Here's my take on why Nate should be COY:
An Advocate For McMillan: 2010 Coach Of The Year

Am I being a homer or do you all think Nate deserves this award as well? I mean 50 wins (most likely) after not having a healthy team the entire year, which can disrupt roles, chemistry, and rhythm, yet no one wants us in the playoffs, because we are dangerous. Golden State has missed more games, but they are no were to be found in the playoff race.

He deserves the award. No doubt about it. He was missing half his guys for a bit, and still found mismatches on the court and was able to squeak out a bunch of big wins. Brandon and Lamarcus help too, they'll make a lotta coaches look good. But the injury Nate received while engaging the guys hard in practice when the Blazers couldn't even run 4 on 4, was most honorable indeed. For keeping his wits after that nasty injury, and helping the Blazers get back to the playoffs, Nate gets my vote.

He has my vote.  Who being considered above him had the same injuries to deal with?
Or tore their achilles practicing with their team?

    Nate deserves it !!

The folks over at DIME mag seem to agree with all of us

Meanwhile, in Portland, Nate McMillan has been the most deserving Coach of the Year candidate that isn’t getting as much credit as he should. And the main reason he won’t win C.O.Y. is because the media predicted the Blazers would be good this year anyway. The fact that they are good, but not in the West’s Top-5 like most predicted, actually works against McMillan.

I see where DIME is going with that, i'll be really disappointed if Nate doesn't win seeing everything that has happened this season, and still make the playoffs is amazing most teams would have folded up a long time ago (like Golden State and the Clippers) but not us!  If he does win, will all the Nate hatters give him some slack?

The Bucks have slipped a bit and are now in 6th..but its really got to be a two man race between Brooks and McMillan. Hopefully we wipe the floor with them and pass them in the standings, then I don't think there is ANY logical argument for Brooks if we finish ahead of them with all things considered.

I give about as much credit to Brooks and I do Durant.  That team would not be where they are without Green and Westbrook.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
