Last Monday my band (Abandon Stage) got to audition for the Blazers M.V.P. Project at Lola's Room downtown. There were 12 bands auditioning over the course of 2 nights. They are going to pick 4 or 5 to go to the studio and shoot the opening for the Blazers games like they did last year. Each band had to play 2 songs and then their version of the Trailblazers Theme. My band went on second. Our first tune was a hard rock medley of "What I like about you/ On the darkside/ R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A. Next we did a song from one of our favorite bands KISS. We did "Detroit Rock City" but we changed it to "Portland Rip City" for the fun of it. Lastley we did our hard rock version of the theme song. With dual harmony guitars and in the middle we do "Rip City" chant. It was a ton of fun and a dream come true to get an opportunity like that. We will find out in about a week if we got it. If you want to hear our version of the theme song you can go to We really want to thank the Blazers and it was cool meeting the other bands. Everyone was rooting eachother on. Go Blazers and let's start opening that championchip window starting this season! Thanks, Abandon Stage
