This was breaking news on the radio, we may sign Andre Miller within the next 24 hours. Did anyone else hear about this?

yeah it's pretty much confirmed at this point. KP said no deal has been reached yet, that was at 1pm, but everyone's saying it's a 2 year guaranteed contract for $14 million, with a 3rd year team option of $7 million. www.blazersedge.com has all the links if you wanna check it out. Hopefully this gives Bayless another year or so to blossom (hopefully he's fine with that, because he did not look like a PG in summer league) while still keeping Blake as a solid 2nd string option.
I am a fan of this team. Here's to hoping for a healthy season!!!

Sounds like it is pretty much a done deal- what does everyone think about it? Is it a good move? Seems like some experience is probably a good thing especially since Bayless doesn't seem ready to be back up point guard..

I wasn't stoked until I read comments from the Philly blog link. I do love that they are bumming, but really see this as a best of what's left, as opposed to a big move that breaks us into the next level. I do like two years of Bayless development before we have to rely on him though. I give it a solid Meh.

To me Miller was the best PG available, even before Kidd, Nash or Hinrich.  And that is solely because the man is as pure of a point guard as you can get.  He creates and is big enough to cause match up problems with smaller PGs (which there is a lot).  Miller will be able to control the offense without forcing the pressure on Roy to create, which in return will open Roy's offensive game up like we have never seen before.  Blake will still get plenty of playing time and can even play along side Miller when a 3 point threat needs to be on the floor.  I'm excited.  We finally went after somebody we NEEDED and we actually got him.  Blazer fans should be very happy right now.

I'm so happy that we got Him!!!! He will be a great facilitator for our team and he will be the Veteran to lead out troops. I see us being very good for the next 3 years. Dude has played like 500 games straight He's an iron man. This is great news, I'm so happy we made a move this offseason! RIP CITY BABY!

Its a last cry move! If we wanted him and he was high on our list he would have been signed weeks ago but as nobody wanted to come to portland and we couldnt get a deal done its the best option on the board but not a next level moce. Better then Blake, ok, but not by strides. Being that bayless is going to be another telfair with NO jumper to speak of and we booted sergio, by the way a the best move we made, its a good fit for now

you're crazy! miller is just what this team needs. they don't need a ball-hogging SF (hedo) they need a veteran facilitator.
I am a fan of ooh right in his face!

I love Andre Miller and he will bring everything that he's known for to this team and will help improve them to that so called next level which I should remind people may or may not be a championship......Just because you don't win a championship every season doesn't mean that the team is not a championship contender which is the highest level for most teams. So yes he helps the team get to championship contender status IMO...

Here's the thing about Miller: It's a 2 year trial run until Bayless is ready. Bayless can score. Period, end of story. No questions. He can shoot and drive to the basket. He just needs to learn how to RUN a team: distribute, create, etc. Now we have insurance for at least two years for him to be able to do that. The great thing about both Blake and Miller is that they are GREAT assist-to-turnover ratio guys, which will help Bayless' growth in that area. Miller will help us because we could not change the tempo enough in the Houston series, and he will help to take pressure off of Roy if they're on the court at the same time. No, he's not a very good 3-pt shooter, but he can distribute and create and lob passes, which is really what this team needs. The player that stands to benefit the most from the Miller signing (other than Bayless) is Greg Oden. Think Chris-Paul-to-Tyson-Chandler-esq lobs. And for those that complain he "was our last resort", think again. KP tried to work out a deal at the trade deadline for Miller. Philly just couldn't agree on a package. Then, once free agency started, MIller's price tag was around 4 years, $40 million. If they had signed him for that price, it would have been a horrible signing. However, now that his price has come down considerably, it really is a great deal. If he doesn't play as expected, then we can just get rid of him after two years either outright or get someone in return who makes his salary. So sure, he's not a perfect fit, and he's not a great shooter, but for the value, it is a great signing.

I'm very happy we got Miller! We need someone who knows how to run the floor and sounds like this guy knows what he's doing and will be a team player. Blake plays really well with Brandon and I hear Andre likes to lob the ball ... we have a certain Spaniard that loves to run the baseline and do alleyoops! Course, who knows if Blake or Andre or Bayless (no) will be starting but I'm really looking forward to this season!

I like the move to get Andre. He is a solid veteran with solid and consistent offensive production. However he has lost a step and his ability to d-up on the preeminent guards in the league is suspect. I do love your game Andre, I don’t see how this won’t pay early dividends for the entire team. Well, that is except for Bayless. I believe I speak for a large majority of Blazer fans when I say, “I love the fire and passion Jerryd brings out on the court”. He may not be an offensive juggernaut, but the man needs more P.T this season. He must improve on a few things that only P.T will development, confidence and a sixteen-foot jump shot. For now he can play defense and break one down off the dribble. Nate should use Jerryd in defensive press & trap schemes. It would force more turnovers and slow down the bigger teams allowing Greg and Joe to get back and guard the big men who like to bang a wear us down in the post.

Do you remember when, during crucial parts of games, Blake would drive the middle and manage to get a foul called on the opposing center, get some free throws, settle the team down, in fact take over during these fourth quaters? No? Neither do I. This is what Miller can do night in and night out.

In other words, Miller will be an offensive force in the middle first, and then an unselfish assist man. Blake was the other way around. Teams looked for his passing lanes first and worried about his going to the basket second or not at all.

As far as Bayless is concerned, one doesn't learn to run a team at the NBA level after a summer league or two. Miller has been doing it for 10 years in this league, 4 at the college level, and who knows how many years before that. Bayless' learning curve(yes, I love his dedication and raw energy, too) will determine whether he can play the point in two or more years.

Thank the basketball gods for Andre Miller! Now we need to sacrifice Outlaw in an act of addition by subtraction.

Did anyone see in the latest Barrett blog what KP said about how he likes the team and how he wanted to add to the team and not take away from it, taking from his quotes is the following, "We didn't want to send anyone away. We like this team. We just wanted to add to it."

If so, then why are there people still talking about sending away players and stuff at this point? If players who were key pieces in the success that the team has had this past season (Blake, Outlaw, etc..) are still here at this point then its clear from KP's words that they aren't going anywhere before the season and they shouldn't. I'm tired of hearing about the faulties of those two previously mentioned players in particular because there isn't enough talk about what they do for the team that makes us a consistent contender and great young team. Yes AM brings just what we need on the team and it will help in the development of Bayless in particular but also the team as a whole, thanks KP!
