Ok so don't we need a backup power forward? Right? Why not Millsap then? He's a solid rebounder and he could relive some minuets off of LaMarcus right. Also he's young. I heard a lot of people complaining that Hedo was too old. Paul isn't. I think he would be a wonderful addition to our team. Why wouldn't he? The only I can think of is that he's young like I mentioned. I agree that we do need some veterans on our team but for now just let them grow and improve by themselves

I would be alright with Millsap, although it is unlikely to happen. He reminds me a lot of Z-Bo without the drama. The one thing I would question is whether or not he can keep up with the faster paced second unit and his shot blocking ability. He'll keep the other PFs away from the hoop, but he isn't really atheletic enough to block shots on help defense. I personally would be willing to sacrifice scoring for a known defender/rebounder to help keep Joel and Oden on the floor.

Because he is a restricted FA and Utah will match any offer. He is a young quality PF that can help a team in a lot of ways. I can't see Utah letting him go.

Dang, Birdman is off the board now. I would have like Portland to atleast have made an attempt. Oh well, they know what they are doing. Maybe we have better talent coming in than we thought. Not to imply that they are done moving guys around, but you might be waiting till after Free Agents are signed, summer league has finished, and a trade is made.

MIllsap is not going to happen. Any reasonable offer we make to him Utah will match. Because he is so versatile we would have to overpay in order to get him.

From the looks of it, Either Millsap or Brandon Bass will be a Blazer next season. Channel 8 just reported that Portland is preparing to make an offer to Paul Milsap and if neccessary will make an offer so big that it would stave off other prospective teams. Now, they also reported that Portland is still courting Brandon Bass, so it is looking like they will just cast lines into the stream until they catch one. Then when they catch one they will stop chasing the other, obviously.

I don't see Utah letting Millsap go but I could certainly see Brandon Bass as a Blazer very soon.

Millsap would be a perfect back-up, he's already been quoted saying he wouldn't mind backing up LA, just give him a toxic offer Utah can't match and sign this guy!

responding to all the people saying that utah wouldn't let millsap go, I'm not sure they can afford to keep him now.

Utah apparently did not count on boozer and okur not opting out of their contracts, so they might not have the money to sign him to a bigger deal, which he will indefinitely want.

I personally think he'll leave utah, and i do think he'd be a great addition to the blazers.

I'm guessing Utah expected either Boozer or Okur to opt out. Since neither did, they don't have the resources to sign Millsap to an extensive contract. He's a good player that can rotate in the SF, PF and (if too desperate) the Center position. Since LMA isn't really a physical PF we can use Millsap as the starting SF if needed. He can help us out for a long time. He isn't the veteran presence we need but we can get it from some other position (namely a Guard position).

Millsap will never be the starting SF for two reasons, 1) Martel (if healthy) will be the starter and all signs point that he will be healthy. 2) Blazers need him as a BACK UP PF! He can't be both, he'd be sucking wind mid first quarter. He isn't atheletic enough for SF, he doesn't have a long enough jumper to be SF, he'll make a fine PF though.

Hey, I have a question, why not Paul Milsap? Incase you haven't heard, Brandon Bass just agreed to a four year deal with the Orlando Magic. Really? What the heck? It looks like the Strong are getting stronger and the weak are getting capspace. Look for there to be a lot of BAD teams in bottom half of the playoff spots. The top four teams in each conference will be good and the bottom four will get swept. The first round of the Playoffs are going to suck, I'm guessing this means Portland can stop worrying about where to focus their attention when it comes to back up PF. Lee, Milsap, or trade.

Yeah, I don't mind if we get him.  We don't have a 'power' power forward.  Like you said, it'd be a nice addition to our team.

What makes you think that Millsap isn't a productive player? How stupid do you think the organization that just built this team basically from the ground up through the draft and great decision making would throw a contract (4 yr/$36 mil) to an unproductive player. It doesn't make sense, so of course he is worth it and out of the guys mentioned on your list of players that the team should go after he is better than probably all but two maybe three.
