Rip City!

My Grandpa has always been a very big part of my life.  I was born in Hermiston, OR, a very small town, where he was the Mayor while I was growing up.  Although he had such a big part in what happened in the small town, he's always had a love for Portland. 

He's been coming to Blazer games since they've been around, and has always said the phrase "RIP CITY!"  Anytime he wins a card hand, the Blazers win a game, or he walks through the front door, he screams it as loud as he can!  I've always laughed at him through my childhood because he is such a goofy guy, but I never realized it would become part of my vocabulary someday!

I've wanted to be a Blazer dancer since I was just a little girl.  I had a poster in my bedroom when I was 6, and since then, it has been my goal.  My family has always been huge Blazer fans and I have extremely enjoyed dancing for them this year.  It's my team, and I'm such a fan!  It feels great to be out there and to dance for the team I've always loved!

My Grandpa attends games whenever he can, and he has been to a few this year!  We got him "Spirit Hair" as you can see from the picture I posted, and he has worn it to every game since!  He is also wearing a Blazer robe that we got him, along with his packed closet full of Blazer hats and other gear.  He'll be here on March 25th against the Spurs, so listen for him!  He'll be the loudest one in the Rose Garden, with his "Spirit Hair" screaming, "RRRIIIIPPP CIITTTYY!!"

Go Grandpa! I'm excited to have him come down in a couple weeks.  It gets harder and harder for my Grandparents to make a trip, so having him come is so special and I hope to be seeing a lot of him, as they hopefully make playoffs!

  2. No way! Me too! Born and raised until I was 9, then I moved to Portland! It's a great place, I miss it, but I also love the big city life too :)

  3. Believe me, he also shouted "RIP CITY!" when you made the dance team too. Grandpa is very proud of you and loves seeing you on the dance floor!

  6. Thank you guys for the comments! He loves the robe, he wanted to wear it to the Heat game, but I told him regular clothes would probably be better choice! But, look out for the Spirit Hair at the next game! And thank you Julianne, the Blazers' community is a great thing and so tight knit! I couldn't ask for anything more :)

  7. Grandpa really is probably the biggest Blazer fan I know I am sooo glad he has been able to not just come to the games but also watch you dance Kel! I think the fact that because he is such a big fan of the team has made me a bigger fan than I already am! I am so proud of you as I know Grandpa and the rest of our family and friends are as well!
