Trail Blazers Vs. Lakers Game Thread
After answering opportunity's knock when Matthews went down with an ankle injury, Will Barton will look to take the next step in his maturation process. The rook filled in admirably Sunday night, scoring 22 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, handing out 6 assists, and playing the passing lanes to the tune of 3 steals all in a reserve role. It was his spark, his energy, and his fight that led the comeback against Dallas. But all NBA players are talented and are capable of putting up big performances at least once in their careers. Was his outing on Sunday a one-time deal or can the Thrill sustain his level of play? It appears that Wesley Matthews will not play and that Barton will likely get the start so keep a close on him. Does he try to do too much? Will he be star-struck going up against Kobe, a player he admires? Or is Will going to add onto his Dallas performance? Only time will tell, but don't be shocked if Will brings the Rose Garden to their feet once more. He doesn't lack confidence, so don't expect him to be in awe of the limelight. If Barton can get into the passing lanes early on, leading to a few easy transition buckets, that could take away an nerves and really ignite another big night.
So Rip City, what are your keys to victory?
