Trail Blazers Vs. Timberwolves Game Thread
Minnesota's current guard rotation features four players: Ricky Rubio, Alexey Shved, JJ Barea, Luke Ridnour, with only Shved standing taller than 6-4. This plays right into Portland's hands as Coach Stotts has been wanting to play Damian Lillard and Eric Maynor together in the backcourt. Usually, the main reason not to play two point guards together for prolonged stretches is due to a mismatch at the shooting guard position, which can lead to headaches on the defensive end of the court. But with Minnesota mostly using point guards themselves, it's a prime matchup for the Trail Blazers to see what their floor generals can accomplish together. The best bet is for Lillard to play off the ball, something we haven't seen from him a whole lot this year, but with the addition of Maynor, it could become commonplace. Watch his shot selection. Does he go to the basket more? Or does he settle for the jumper? Is he more efficient. We'll get the full answers to these questions once the season is over, but a sneak peek never hurts.
So Rip City, what are your keys to victory?
