    POSTGAME QUOTES

    HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS

“I was glad we bounced back after halftime. Obviously, the first half was not what you want to see. I was proud of the way guys responded after half. Will Barton had a terrific game and pretty much was the catalyst for how we played in the second half. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen after halftime, but I was glad that we came back and were in a position – I don’t know if we would have won it or not, but at least had a chance to tie it. My hat is off to the guys, particularly who played in the second half.”

    On Barton’s game:
“Will’s terrific. We opened it up, it was an up and down game with a lot of flow, not a lot of half court sets. Just go out and play and defend. He was terrific. He did a little bit of everything and I can’t say enough about what he did.”

Have you seen that from Barton in practice/before?
“Yeah, I mean not consistently. He finished tonight, he was around the ball. He’s shown flashes of that, but certainly not extended periods. My hat is off to him that he was able to sustain that level of energy and focus for the entire half. We’ve seen patches of that throughout the season, but he sustained it for the whole half.”

    WILL BARTON
On bringing energy in comeback in second half:
“It wasn’t just me. Dame, LaMarcus – all the leaders on the team just saying that we can’t go out like this. We can’t keep losing games, getting blown out, especially at home. Our fans deserve more – our coaches, and the rest of the guys on the team, we had to just step it up and just play hard.”

On 12-0 run in fourth including back-to-back dunks:
“I just have to credit Eric Maynor for finding me, seeing me in the open court running and just putting the ball in the air and I just go get it. As far as the run, everybody contributed. Tough defense from the team, we rebounded well and got out and pushed it. It was just a total team effort.”

    On opportunity to play, contribute:
“Anytime you’re a guy coming off the bench, and you never know when you’re going to play, your job is just to stay ready. All of us are pros, so I feel like any one of us can get in there and have a good game and contribute. Tonight, it just happened to be my night.”

    DAMIAN LILLARD
Do you take anything from coming back from 26 down to have chance to win?
“That’s a step up from what we’ve been doing. We finished the game better. But I don’t believe in moral victories and being happy that we came back. We played well down the stretch and gave ourselves a chance. It was better than what we’ve been doing, but we want to win the game. We put ourselves in that position and have to play that hard to get in the game.”

    On Barton’s game:
“He brought a lot of energy. He basically carried us in the second half. He scored points, he rebounded, he passed the ball, got big steals. He was big time and he did what we needed from him tonight.”

    POSTGAME NOTES

    - Series history … After tonight’s result, Dallas takes the regular season series against the Trail Blazers, three wins to one … The Mavericks’ 96 points scored are the fewest points Dallas has scored against Portland since also scoring 96 on April 3, 2011.

    - Career night … Will Barton finished tonight with career highs of 22 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, three steals, seven made field goals and eight free throw makes … Barton is the first Trail Blazer to record those numbers in a game since Cliff Robinson (Jan. 20, 1993) and the first NBA reserve with that stat line since Cliff Robinson (also on Jan. 20, 1993).

    - Will the thrill … Barton is the first NBA rookie with 22 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and three steals in a game since Grant Hill on March 25, 1995 … Barton is the only rookie this season to record at least 22 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in a game … Tonight also marked Barton’s first career double-double.

    - Buckets … LaMarcus Aldridge finished with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists … Aldridge is the eighth NBA player to score 1,500 points this season (L. James, K. Durant, J. Harden, R. Westbrook, K. Bryant, S. Curry, C. Anthony).

    - Attacking the glass … JJ Hickson, after his five rebounds tonight and one block tonight, became the first Trail Blazer with at least 800 rebounds and 50 blocks in a season since Mychal Thompson in 1981-82.

    - Scorching second half … After trailing 56-32 at halftime, the Trail Blazers outscored the Mavericks 59-40 in the second half.
