    HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS

    On the game
“Possession of the ball was pretty important tonight if you look at the way we shot and look at the way they shot it. The turnovers and offensive rebounds just gave them extra possessions and they were able to take advantage of it. They are playing at a good level right now, they are making a playoff push and I’ll give them credit, especially here at home.”

On what the team did well tonight
“After the slow start I thought we started playing harder. I was disappointed with the way the first six minutes went where we didn’t seem like we were playing as hard as we needed to play against a good team on the road. We got down early in the first quarter, we were able to hang around and find ways to keep the game close. We just didn’t have enough, but I liked the way we picked it up after getting off to a slow start.”

    DAMIAN LILLARD
On breaking the rookie three-point season record
“It’s an honor to be able to do that in my first season, but I wish I would have done it in a win. It’s bittersweet”

On the significance of the record
“I think now in the league guys shoot a lot more threes than they did in the past. That kind of takes away the significance of it. But it takes a good shooter to be able to do it, so I’m happy I was able to set the record.”

On the loss to the Jazz
“I thought it was up and down. Defensively, we weren’t nearly as consistent as we needed to be. We played a good offensive game other than turnovers. We didn’t have a lot of possessions. We just didn’t defend.”

    On finishing the season strong
“I think as competitors, guys want to take on challenges. That’s definitely a challenge because a lot of teams on our schedule are teams that are right there on the edge of being in or out of the playoffs. We definitely have an opportunity to be that team.”

    WESLEY MATTHEWS
    On finishing the season well
“We need to develop good habits this last however many games we have. We can’t lose games shooting 56-percent and having 16 turnovers. We need to take care of ball, value the ball, and value defense so we have that momentum going into next season.”

On if Portland will play spoiler the rest of the season
“I don’t know. We need to worry about ourselves and getting better. We need to make sure we get right.”
