    POSTGAME QUOTES

    HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS

“It was a better game than we played against Brooklyn. I wanted to come out with more aggressiveness, better focus. We did that. We played a good game until the turnovers caught up with us in the fourth quarter. They capitalized on them. Mo Williams had a great second half. We kind of shot ourselves in the foot with the turnovers. It was tough to get back into it after that.”

Were late struggles more offensive problems or Utah’s defense?
“Probably a little bit of both. We floated some passes – we floated two passes, tried to sneak one in. You’ve got to make better decisions in those situations. But they were aggressive, they had good hands, they anticipated the passes, so you’ve got to give them credit as well.”

On importance of final stretch of games/tough loss:
“What’s important for us from day one was to compete and get better. Our playoff odds are slim to none right now, but that doesn’t take away the goals from the beginning of the season to compete and get better. We competed tonight and gave good effort. Meyers and Victor were effective. Obviously, Damian, Wes and Nic played a solid game. JJ was solid. It’s a long game and you’ve got to take care of things.”

    DAMIAN LILLARD
    On big Utah run late:
“We made some mistakes defensively and we turned the ball over on five out of eight possessions or six out of eight, and they took advantage of it.”

“I think the whole game we were in flow, everything was flowing. We weren’t going too many possessions without getting a quality shot. Down the stretch they got their hands on some balls. Sometimes we didn’t get shots up. They came down and they scored and they went on runs against us. The lead got chopped down real quick.”

On losing to team in playoff chase:
“That’s a team that with this win we could have gained ground on them going into the game on Monday. By getting a win and giving them a loss, we could have gave ourselves a better chance. Losing that type of game on our home floor hurts.”

    JJ HICKSON
On losing 9 point lead in fourth:
“Just careless plays, taking our nine point lead for granted. That definitely hurt us tonight.”
“When you turn the ball over like we did consecutive times, it’s hard to win games like that, especially against Utah.”

Does loss hurt more against Utah?
“Every loss this season, it definitely hurts. We were at .500 for a minute, a couple games above .500, but we never really got over the hump. The good thing about this is you have a game tomorrow against Golden State. They’re definitely playing for something. It’s going to be a hostile environment but we’ve got to go get this one, have a day off and then we play Utah away. So hopefully we can get those two wins.”

“This loss definitely stings… We’re still playing to win, we’re still playing to make the playoffs. I know our window is definitely smaller at this point, but as long as we’ve got a chance, we’re going to keep playing hard and we’re going to play with integrity.”
