    HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS

    On the overall game:
“I thought this was one of our better defensive or best defensive games of the season.  Performance of our guys on the pick and roll defense was good and active.  We covered the paint well.  We talked about this as a focus especially after giving up 57 or more points in the 1st half the last couple of games.”

On their 2nd quarter scoring surge:
“Yes, the points came but not without our defense.  Our stops allowed us to play in our flow and hit shots.  We would like to be a team like Chicago where our defense is something we have every night.  The message to the team was that we had given up 57, 58 and 58 points the last 3 games in the 1st half.  We know we can score in bunches, but we need to focus on defense.  Our team is better and our offense goes when we push the ball and play up tempo.  The Bulls are a good team but bringing back players like Hinrich and Gibson causes a need for adjust ment.  That showed tonight that they'll be back.”

    On his short rotation:
“Yes it was a short rotation tonight.  I thought the starters were very effective at both ends of the floor.  Our big guys were very effective against the pick and roll.  I didn't expect a 7 man rotation but after the 1st half I didn't want to screw up and mess with what had worked.  That's why I just had 2 subs- 1 perimeter and 1 big.”

    LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE
Was this your best defensive effort?
“Yes, hands down.  We rotated on the pick and roll very well and I thought this was one of our best efforts all year.  When you play a physical team in the paint like they are, you have to match that effort.  The guys knew tonight we couldn't give up 56 points or something like that in the 1st half.  Everybody was active.  That allowed us to move around and block shots.”

    On his hot shooting:
“Lately, I have been in a good rhythm.  My moves have been pretty good and with my rhythm going tonight, it allowed me to play loose.  Itwas not a mismatch, I just made a number of tough shots against them.  I also told the guys at halftime that we needed to come out strong in the 3rd quarter  because I knew they would.  I said we needed to turn it up first before they got it going.”

    NICOLAS BATUM
    On their defensive play:
“Yes, I think it was the best we have played all year.  Our energy and focus on the game plan was there all night.  The guys coming off the bench helped a did a great job.  It was just a good job by the team defensively.  This was a good win against a playoff team.”

    On their offensive performance:
“This game we started like the way we ended the game up in Milwaukee.  If we can play like that, we can win against anybody.  Tonight we hit our 3's because we got the ball inside first and that sets everything up for Wes and me.”
