    On tonight’s game
“Milwaukee kept the game in doubt for a while. My hat is off to them. They gave it all they could. It was just too big of hole at halftime to come back from. We didn’t play well. And whether it’s missed shots or bad decisions, it wasn’t good basketball.”

    On Milwaukee’s defense
“They’ve got two quick point guards and athletic big men on pick-and-rolls. They forced [Damian Lillard] to give up the ball on the pick-and-roll. He made good decisions getting the ball to LaMarcus Aldridge. They knew how important he is for our scoring. That was a priority for them.”

    On second half deficit
“Twenty-seven is a big hole. On the road it’s a bigger hole. Like I said, I didn’t know how the second half would go. We kept battling. I thought we played the right way. We were more aggressive defensively and made shots. I thought we played very well in the second, but 27 points is a big hole.”

Game adjustments in the 2nd half
“That’s all we can do. Go out and battle. That’s what coach said. We got down to them pretty heavy the first time we played them. We battled back, got it to within four, about 40 some seconds left at our place. We knew we had an uphill climb. We fought.”

On the struggles in the 2nd quarter
“In the second quarter, we went six minutes without a field goal. … We were missing shots, they were making shots. It’s tough. Usually when droughts happen like that in this league, it’s both teams. Unfortunately they were still making them while we were missing them. That’s what got us in that deficit. But we were able to chip away at it.”

On chipping away at the halftime deficit, and his big 2nd half back ‘home’
“I’m going to play every game, no matter where it is, with heart. I’m going to play every game to win. I’m not going to sell out for my teammates. That’s just how this game is supposed to be played. I was able to hit a few shots. My teammates were finding me. I got hot a little bit in the second half. They had a couple timely baskets.”

On being down by 27 points
“Milwaukee is a very good team but we felt like we could do it. We’ve done it before. When we were down by 27 we just wanted to go and get after it.”

    On message at halftime
“Just keep fighting. That’s what the message was. We got it down to eight with four minutes to go. We have to play a good game of basketball for 48 minutes. There’s no reason to get down by that many points.”

    - Marquette alum Wesley Matthews led the Blazers with 28 points – his 16th 20-point game of the season. Portland entered tonight’s game with a 6-1 mark when Matthews scores 22+.
    - Matthews’ seven 3-pointers tonight are a new career high (previously six).
    - Matthews’ 28 points were the most he’s ever scored at the BMO Harris Bradley Center (pro or college). His previous high was 27 (Marquette vs. Houston Baptist on 11/4/08).
