    HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS

“Well, it was a good game. It could have gone either way. They came up with some rebounds, they made shots when they needed to, and it was a well-played game by both teams, but they made the plays when they needed to.”

When do you feel the game got out of your control?
“I don’t know that it was ever necessarily out of our control. They made a little push in the middle of the fourth quarter and got it up to 7 or 9, but we came down [and] we had a shot to tie it. So, I don’t know if it ever necessarily got that we lost control of the game. I don’t know if we were ever in control of the game.”

What about scoring 36 points in the 2nd half after scoring 61 in the first? What changed in the 2nd half as far as your offense was concerned?
“I think both teams got more aggressive defensively. Both locker rooms were probably saying the same thing – that we gave up too many points in the first half. We had 61, they had 57. Both teams made adjustments. I thought they were more aggressive picking up our point guards, [and] trying to disrupt the back court. But, I think both teams played more aggressively defensively in the second half.”

What did the Mavericks do in the 2nd half to contain Lillard?
“Well, again, they picked him up in the back court. They were very physical with him, and they made him a priority. They were more aggressive on his pick-and-rolls and they weren’t giving him the looks that he had.”

    LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE
On playing in tough road environment
“I think so, I think we definitely had a chance to win tonight. I thought we had a tough stretch tonight when they had us down by one and then we had turnover after turnover. We still have to do better.”

    On strong second half
“I thought I found my shot in the second half. I tried to get us going.”

    On fourth quarter execution
“They came down and I thought they had better shots. I thought we had some big turnovers.”

    DAMIAN LILLARD
On Mavs defense on him in second half
“I don’t think it was anything they did…everything I had in the first half wasn’t there. I think our guys started to make shots, so there wasn’t really a need for me to go out there and try to force myself and score the ball. I probably should have stayed aggressive while the other guys stepped up. They did a better job of guarding me, but I could have done a better job on getting to the spots I got to in the first half.”

On opportunity to cease the game
“I think we were (in position to cease the game). They made a run on their home court and we knew they would and we knew they would start making shots. We made some mistakes and they made some tough shots and that’s just how it happened.”

    On confidence in close games
“I think we are a really confident team in close games because we’ve been in that situation so many times and we’ve been successful. So, anytime it’s a close game and it comes down to needing a stop or a big basket, we have a confident team and we’ve been successful in those situations.
