    POSTGAME QUOTES

    HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS

“It’s an understatement to say it’s great to beat Miami. They’re a great team and the defending champs. I’ve got to hand it to our guys for sticking with it. You keep competing and playing through and find a way to win games and that’s kind of what we did tonight and kind of what we’ve been doing most of the season.”

    On Matthews’ defense on LeBron:
“I thought he made him work. I mean, LeBron is a great player. He almost has a triple double and I thought we did a good job on him. Wes didn’t really give him alleys to the basket. He got four of his points early in transition early in the game, but I thought in half court defense, he did a nice job of taking away angles and forcing him to be a passer and keeping him from the rim.”

On message to the team after the game:
“Very simple – just keep playing hard and finding ways to win games and stay together. Not really a lot to say after a game like that.”

    On fourth quarter:
“Everybody was big in the fourth quarter. Wes makes the two shots, Nic makes a defensive play and the three point play, LaMarcus got big rebounds. There were a lot of big plays in the fourth quarter. Like I told them before the game, get it to the fourth quarter and we’ve been good in the fourth quarter. We made defensive plays and that fed some of our offense. That’s part of what we have to do.

    On context of this win:
“I don’t know if it has context right now, maybe in a couple weeks, maybe in a couple months it will have some context. Right now it’s about a team that’s growing together, finding ways to win games, defending home court. I think it’s a continuation of what we’ve been trying to build.”

    LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE
On coming from 12 down in fourth:
“We always find a way to win. Guys made big plays for us – Nic, Wes, they all played great down the stretch.”

On Heat defense making it tough:
“Their defense is definitely one of the top in the league. They showed, they have weak-side help, they have great help the helper action, so everything was tough for us tonight.”

    On Matthews:
“He was big down the stretch, made big shots for us. He was guarding LeBron all night, I thought he did as good as anybody could do.”

“I think just overall, everything was good. Guys were going to the basket, taking their shots when they were open, getting out in transition. So that was good for us.”

    WESLEY MATTHEWS
On coming from 12 down in fourth:
“We have to stop getting down though. It’s starting to take a toll. We have another tough one tomorrow. It’s what we’ve been talking about all year, we’re a resilient bunch. We play hard every possession. We’ve got that taste of winning.”

    On hanging in game:
“We got it within five twice early on before they stretched it up to 12. It was just stacking stops together – we tried to get three stops in a row and once we were able to do that, get the rebound and stop turning the ball over, we felt good about our chances. We kept playing, kept playing hard. Nic made big plays, offensive rebounds and we got the win.”

On confidence of the team right now:
“It’s high right now. Confidence is extremely high. We’re playing well, playing hard, playing together. We’re having fun out there. It’s a great combination.”
