This past Media Day, I was fortunate enough to be able to sit down and interview the Trail Blazers and Head Coach Terry Stotts ... But these aren't your average, run-of-the-mill basketball questions. Without further ado, here is the next installment of "On The Clock" with Nolan Smith.
From Trail Blazers fan Keisha - What part of your game did you work on the most this summer?
Nolan Smith: My jump shot. I spent a lot of time this summer getting reps up.
Who is your favorite person to follow on Twitter?
NS: Tony Allen
Who is the one person you wished followed you back on Twitter?
NS: Lolo Jones
If you could participate in any Olympic sport other than basketball, what would it be?
NS:Race-walking (
Ed Note: This was, hands down, the highlight of my Media Day. When someone else in the room didn't realize race-walking was a legitimate Olympic sport, Nolan, without hesitation, got out of his seat and proceeded to race-walk around the entire room ...I only wish I could have recorded it. So to all of you race-walkers out there, watch out for Nolan in Rio!)
What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
NS: Hey Arnold!
Who is your favorite character on Spongebob??
NS: Spongebob, hands down! But I like Sandy, too.
What’s the one snack food you can’t live without?
NS: Scooby Snacks! I have my sister pick me up around five or six boxes every two weeks. (
Ed Note: Nolan also went on to say that the blue ones were his favorite.)
Where’s your favorite place to eat at in Portland?
NS: Fire on the Mountain and Pine State Biscuits
Better trilogy: Back to the Future, Star Wars or Friday?
NS: Friday
Smokey or Dey-Dey?
NS: Smokey (Ed Note: This was probably the toughest answer for Nolan. He went back and forth quite a bit before settling on Craig's original side-kick.)
What’s currently playing in your iPod?
NS: Wale, Meek Mill, Lauryn Hill, Erika Badu and other R&B.
Is DJ NDotSmitty available for party bookings?
NS: Not yet, I'm still working and practiced every night [this summer] for an hour. But next summer, watch out!
If you weren’t going to take care of the Lakers on Halloween night, what would you dress up as this year?
NS: Michael Myers
Are you a cat or a dog person?
NS: Dog (
Ed Note: Nolan said the Maltese was his favorite type of canine.)
If you didn’t attend Duke, where would you have played college basketball at?
NS: Louisville
What’s your favorite pair of Adidas?
NS: The Crazy Light low-tops, red and black
Who is the one former NBA legend you would love to match up with 1-on-1?
NS: John Stockton
Would you wear short-shorts for the occasion?
NS: YES! (
Ed Note: This is why Nolan was my favorite Media Day interview. Even though it was early in the morning and he had many stations to get to, he was all smiles. )
Have you checked out On The Clock with
