Day two.
Sure, whats happening at the practice facility isn’t a structured training camp but it’s training none the less. And today, members of the Portland Trail Blazers continued to trickle in as hastily-made plans to return to the Rose City before the official opening of training camp on Friday came to fruition.
Yesterday we saw LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Johnson and Earl Barron on the court. All were back today. In addition to the three returners, Nolan Smith, Elliot Williams, Luke Babbitt and former Trail Blazer and current Los Angeles Laker Steve Blake all worked out. The new faces in the mix paved the way for a full court 3-on-3 pick up game—Trail Blazers TV Analyst Mike Rice watched some of the matchup and raved about the leadership of Aldridge and more on
today's Just Casey, a trailblazers.tv afternoon staple.
After a morning of workouts second-year, three-point specialist Babbitt took time to debrief with the media. He raved about the Aldridge-organized summer workouts in Austin and was crystal clear on knowing his role and why he was brought to Portland.
Nolan Smith also met with the media, his excitement to don a Trail Blazers uniform not unnoticed. The first-round draft pick out of Duke University, widely discussed as “NBA ready” spoke to his preparedness in stepping into the backup point guard role behind Raymond Felton.
Another Trail Blazer who
made a stop on trailblazers.tv this afternoon was Elliot Williams. The gifted—and extremely sweaty— athlete joined Adam and me during the noon hour and briefed us on the pick-up game, his eagerness to play this season and his NBA 2K12 skills.
The final arrival of the day was Gerald Wallace, who snuck in around 2pm to grab a late afternoon workout with team trainer Bobby Medina.
Last but definitely not least, this Twitpic of LaMarcus'
specially made Nike tee is awesome. Sign me up.
