Trail Blazers general manager Neil Olshey just wrapped up a pretty good interview on 1080 The Fan's "PrimeTime with Issac and Suke,"
which you can listen to here. Olshey answers questions about his hiring, his relationship with Paul Allen (who Olshey said will be at tomorrow's workouts), the head coaching search and, of course, the upcoming draft. It's worth a listen, so I'm not going to transcribe the whole thing here, but I Olshey stating that the team has got their targets nailed down to a small group of players is a good jumping off point for the start of predraft workouts tomorrow.
Says Olshey...
"I'll tell you a golden rule in the draft, which is if you pick 6 and 11, you wish you had 5 and 10. If you have 5 and 10, you wish you had 4 and 9. But at the end of the day, usually things play out and, you know the old poker saying, don't judge people by your standards. So just because you're in love with someone you think is going to go ahead of you doesn't mean someone likes somebody else.
Like I said, we'll do our due diligence, we're doing our workouts, we've got a tone of film and background information, physiological, we've done all the live scouting, we've got the analytics. Right now, we're just kind of digging in. At least now we're kind of comparing apples to apples. We've funneled it down to probably three or four guys at each selection and we're going to look at the best aggregated results in the organization between the two picks."
And with that, we'll be
live on trailblazers.tv from the practice facility for both of tomorrows workouts as soon as media is let into the gym, which will probably be around 1:15 PM for the first workout and 3:15 PM for the second.
