Blazers Sign Dee Bost, Roster Stands At 17
Training camp is still well over a month away, but the Trail Blazers are already filling out their preseason roster, as evidenced by the team signing guard Dee Bost to a deal today
. From the team's press release …
The Portland Trail Blazers signed guard Dee Bost to a contract, it was announced today by General Manager Neil Olshey. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bost (6-2, 176) played four seasons at Mississippi State, where he averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 assists as a senior. Bost finished his career with 633 assists, tops in Mississippi State history and eighth all-time in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Last season he played for Buducnost Podgorica in Montenegro where he averaged 8.3 points and 1.8 assists in 21.5 minutes per game.
Bost also played for Portland's summer league team in 2012
, averaging 5.8 points, 2.4 assists and 1.4 rebounds in five games. He also threw a pretty sweet off-the-backboard alley-oop
to Will Barton.
The addition of Bost brings the official roster to 17, so it's safe to assume this isn't a guaranteed contract, as the roster has to be trimmed to 15 by the start of the regular season. These signings happen ever year, if for no other reason than the team needs extra bodies for training camp. Damian Lillard and Mo Williams probably don't need the extra work in preseason.
