Dime Magazine: Lillard's NBA 2k Rating Should Improve

By caseyholdahl

Something for all of you gaming Trail Blazers fans. The folks over at Dime Magazine put together a list of players who are due to see a significant bump in their rating in the 2014 edition of the popular NBA 2k franchise. And after getting a 70 out of 100 rating in NBA 2k13, Dime Mag speculates that Damian Lillard is due for a 16-point increase to his rating when NBA 2k14 is released.
2K13 Rating: 70
Estimated 2K14 Rating: 86 (plus-16)
An increase in rating is expected after a rookie has proven themselves going into their sophomore season, but Lillard’s rise isn’t one of an ordinary rookie getting adjusted to the big leagues. Lillard is a surefire franchise player in Portland right now and the Rookie of the Year accolades speak for themselves. A drastic jump of 16 points on the 2K ratings scale is totally understandable once you realize that Lillard was the most exciting rookie since LeBron James this past season. It’s no wonder why he graced our cover of Issue #72.
NBA 2k does periodically update their ratings throughout the season (or so I'm told), which is why Lillard, if you're playing the most up-to-date version of NBA 2k13, currently has a rating of 82.

Dime speculates that only Milwaukee's Larry Sanders and Indiana's Lance Stephenson will have larger ratings increases than Lillard.

  1. He was a 71, but when they came out with the update after the season had started they bumped him up to an 81
