Isiah Thomas On Damian Lillard: 'He's Going To Do Great Things In This League'
Prior to the start of the Team USA White/Blue scrimmage at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Hall of Fame point guard , NBA Champion and NBA TV analyst Isiah Thomas answered a few questions about Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard.
Thoughts on Lillard's performance during his rookie season and at the Team USA mini-camp:
"He's been great, and greater. His rookie season was one for the ages. He did everything and more that you can ask from a rookie. I thought he really carried Portland, put them in a position where they were playing very meaningful games at the end of the season. I think this summer he's building on that. He's a tireless worker. The Blazers definitely have a gem in him. He's very special."
How does a player stand out in a game with so many great young players?
"The thing is, when you're playing with great players, the game because much easier for you because the decision-making process is easier. You can't really make a wrong decision because every player that you throw it to is capable of doing good things with the basketball. That kind of makes it easier for the point guard."
Does Damian remind you of any other point guards from other eras?
"Nah. I think with all of these guards that are coming up, they're good enough to carve out their own niche, carve out their own path. His game is special and unique and he's special and unique. He's going to do great things in this league, just as he did great things last year."
