Olek Czyz to play for Trail Blazers at Las Vegas Summer League

By caseyholdahl

One assumes the majority of Portland's 2013 Las Vegas Summer League roster will be made up of players currently under contract (Meyers Leonard, Will Barton, Victor Claver and Joel Freeland) and whomever the team ends up drafting with the 10th, 39th, 40th and 45th picks in Thursday night's draft. But even if the Trail Blazers do select four players for themselves (I consider that a very unlikely scenario), there will still be a roster spots up for grabs.

And according to his official website, Polish forward Olek Czyz will be taking one of those spots. The 23 year-old forward, who averaged 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game for Italian SerieA team Acea Virtus Roma last season, started his collegiate career at Duke before transferring to Nevada for two seasons. He participated a pre-draft workout in Portland during the run up to the 2012 Draft, though he eventually went undrafted. He averaged 4.6 points and 2.6 rebounds for Chicago's 2012 Las Vegas Summer League squad.

Portland's first summer league game in Las Vegas is set for July 13, and if you have the means, I highly suggest checking it out.
