A Familiar Name At No. 10 In Chad Ford's Newest Mock Draft
The 2013 Draft is a little over a week away and ESPN.com's Chad Ford has released the fifth iteration of his mock draft
, which has the Trail Blazers selection a familiar name with the No. 10 pick ...
Portland Trail Blazers
Analysis: The Blazers also are in need of a shooter and would have strong interest in Caldwell-Pope if he doesn't go at No. 9. McCollum is another good option. While he's a bit undersized to play the two (Damian Lillard has the point guard spot on lockdown) his shooting and driving ability should complement Lillard nicely. The Blazers also are looking at bigs, and Pittsburgh's Steven Adams looks like a potential fit here as well.
Ford said during an interview last week on 1080 The Fan
that he thought Portland would select either Georgia sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope or McCollum, and since Ford has KCP going to the Timberwolves with the No. 9 pick, Portland gets McCollum as a nice consolation prize. Also worth noting that Ford had Portland picking McCollum in his last mock draft
The addition of Stephen Adams as a "potential fit" is a new development in Ford's mock, though Draft Express has had the 19 year-old New Zealander going to Portland
with the tenth pick for a while now. I think this might be a case of draft prognosticators assuming the Trail Blazers will draft for need (though you could easily argue they've already got all of the young, athletic project centers they need) rather than taking the best player on the board at No. 10, but who knows with this draft.
