Howard-Cooper: Several Teams 'Convinced' Blazers Will Draft Caldwell-Pope

By caseyholdahl

An interesting little line item from NBA.com's Scott Howard-Cooper in his recently updated mock draft. According to Howard-Cooper, at least a couple of NBA teams think the Trail Blazers are going to take Georgia guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
Several teams are convinced this is the Portland call in the attempt to add depth as one of the final steps to a playoff push. Caldwell-Pope is an offensive threat who has spent two seasons in a system that created a lot of shooting opportunities for him.
Caldwell-Pope participated in a group workout at the team's practice facility on June 3, a workout which team owner Paul Allen did attend. He is currently listed at No. 13 on Chad Ford's "Big Board", though Ford has the 6-5 guard going to Minnesota with the No. 9 pick in his most recent mock draft. And for what it's worth, Mike Rice has Portland taking KCP in his mock draft.

  1. The "for what it's worth" line is just mean. Anyhow, the Blazers need this guy and a talented big who can score a little. Add to that a veteran or two, and we're in decent shape.

  2. I put "for what it's worth" in there because some assume that people who work for the organization know who we're drafting, which is actually not at all the case.
