Chad Ford's Mock Draft 4.0 Has A New Name At No. 10 ...
ESPN.com's Chad Ford released the fourth iteration of his 2013 NBA Mock Draft
this morning, and there's a new name at No. 10 for the Trail Blazers ...
Analysis: The Blazers would like to continue to add shooters. Enter McCollum. While he commonly gets compared to Damian Lillard, they are different players and could nicely complement each other in the backcourt. I'm also hearing Croatia's Dario Saric is a strong possibility here, too.
Ford isn't the only person who thinks McCollum would pair nicely with Lillard. In fact, Lillard himself is already on record saying he'd like to share the backcourt with McCollum.
"I really like CJ McCollum, who's also similar to me," said Lillard on Trail Blazers Courtside
after the Draft Lottery. He's a four-year
player, a four-year college athlete, graduated from school, he's about
6-3 and a half, he can score the ball, he can also make plays. I think
somebody like him off the bench would really help our team because he
can back me up as a point guard, he can come off (the bench) and score,
he can play off the ball. So I think someone like him would be really
good for us."
You could do a lot worse in this draft than getting a player who shares numerous similarities to the 2013 Rookie of the Year.
McCollum replaces Kentavious Caldwell-Pope at the No. 10 pick
in Ford's mock draft. Ford now lists Caldwell-Pope, who worked out for the Trail Blazers on Monday
, as being taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 9 pick.
