LaMarcus Aldridge Responds To Bill Simmons' Trade Proposal
By caseyholdahl Posted in: LaMarcusAldridge
The day after the 2013 Draft Lottery, Bill Simmons of ESPN, ESPN.com and Grantland.com proposed a trade that would send LaMarcus Aldridge to the Cavaliers
in exchange for the No. 1 pick in the 2013 Draft and second-year power forward Tristan Thompson. As far as I can tell, Trail Blazers fans weren't too high on the suggestion and even Simmons seemed to have second-thoughts
about his own idea.
And today, thanks to a Q&A with LaMarcus over at Slam
, we get Aldridge's opinion on Simmons' idea, though to be completely fair, Aldridge's comments are more acknowledging the existence of a topic than an opinion ...
SLAM: You’re under contract for two more years. There have been rumors that the Cavs might float, say, Tristan Thompson and the No. 1 pick for you. How do you feel about your future in Portland?
LA: You know, as of now I’m here and we have a great team. I’m here now and we have a team that can definitely get better next year and we have cap room so we can bring in players. So I’m definitely here, and we’ll see what happens.
A very diplomatic answer and completely inline with basically every statement Aldridge has ever made about his present and future in Portland.
There's plenty more in that Q&A worth reading, including Aldridge's thoughts on Nicolas Batum's season, the differences between Brandon Roy and Damian Lillard and what video game he's been playing with his sons this off-season.
