Ford: Trading For Oladipo Won't Be Cheap

By caseyholdahl

I've heard a number of Trail Blazers fans argue that the Trail Blazers should make Victor Oladipo their target in this year's draft. And with his combination of athleticism, defensive prowess and motor, it's not hard to see why.

But according to Chad Ford at, moving up to acquire Oladipo might take more than you're willing to part with...

What would it take for the Blazers to move up and get Oladipo?

Teams are willing to move the pick, but it would probably take more talent than the Blazers are going to give up to move into the Top 4 to get him. Caldwell-Pope seems like a good fit there.
So the question is for all of you Oladipo fans out there is: What WOULD you be willing to give up to move down, say, six spots to acquire him? Is Caldwell-Pope, who Ford has Portland taking with the 10th pick, a decent consolation prize?

  1. I think Wes, Myers, 10, 39, and 40 to Phoenix for Gortat, and 4.

I rather have Shabazz or Saric over KC-P

  3. Interesting that Ford is probably the only draft pundit projecting Caldwell-Pope that high in the lottery. Either he has a higher opinion of him or he knows something we don't. I guess we'll find out come draft workouts.

  4. Chad Ford is a joke and the idea that ESPN charges for access to his content and other like that is even worse

  5. I love Victor Oladipo. There isn't anyone that I want more than him. I would be ecstatic if we managed to get him. But here is my problem: what if we go all in to move up to 4 to get him, and then he goes number 1, 2, or 3?

  6. At this point, with the thoughts this is a "weak" draft, I don't see the logic in packaging anyone or the pick just to move up for Oladipo or anyone for that matter. I think it's pretty clear there's no impact player for a team with 4 of 5 starters pretty locked in. I'm just not seeing Portland "move the needle" with a draft pick. Call me crazy.

I don't know what the answer is, but I'm pretty sure it's not shipping off the assets it would take to land a top pick.

  7. Keep The picks. Draft the best players available. Preferably a shooting guard and a couple of combo wings and a raw center. And use the $11.5 mil to get a big.
