Adidas Releases Limited-Edition Damian Lillard 'Real Deal'
By caseyholdahl Posted in: damianlillard
Damian Lillard wore no fewer than seven different models
of adidas basketball shoes in-game this season. And that doesn't even count the various colorways of the Rose 3, Rose 3.5, Rose 773, Top 10, Crazy 8, CrazyFast and CrazyQuick he wore this season.
So it's fitting that adidas, to celebrate his 2012-13 Rookie of the Year season, has released a limited-edition "player exclusive" of yet another shoe, the adidas Real Deal. The shoe incorporates various elements that pay homage to Lillard's past and present.
The "510" (Oakland's area code) and the "Certified FlyGuyz
" hand signal on the upper along with the "TOWNBIZ" on the tongue are all references to Lillard's hometown of Oakland. The black on the shoe is also a nod to Oakland High School.
The purpleish blue, utilized primary on the sole, toe cap, laces and in the "cement" pattern on the outsole, is a nod to Lillard's alma mater, Weber State.
Of course, the black signifies the Portland Trail Blazers.
And the heel patch is adorned with "the letter 0" which Lillard has said represent Oakland (his hometown), Ogden (the location of Weber State) and Oregon (home of the Trail Blazers). The adidas three stripes logo finishes out the customization.
Adidas has only made 510 pairs of Lillard's Real Deals (you can see the number on the inside of the tongue in the above photo), so if you want to make sure you get a pair, you'll probably want to pre-order over at adidas.com
. Just do me a favor and wait a few minutes until I get in my order in.
And, According to Damian's Facebook page,
you can try to grab a pair at Compound here in Portland or Shoe Palace in Oakland, Calif. The official launch will be at Compound on May 23 between 6:00pm and 7:00pm.
