Blazers Interview Syracuse's Michael Carter-Williams At Draft Combine
Portland's front office staff have been busy during the first day of the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. They've interviewed Shabazz Muhammad and Cody Zeller and now we hear from Jason Quick that they've also interviewed Syracuse guard Michael Carter-Williams.
Carter-Williams averaged 11.9 points
, 7.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 steals in his sophomore season at Syracuse. That's the good news. The bad news? He shot just 39 percent from the field and 29 percent from 3. Those percentages are going to have to improve significantly, which players in his position have done before, if he's to make it in the NBA. Nevertheless, Draft Express has Carter-Williams being selected with the 12th pick
in their most recent mock draft.

Some of this specific comments about the Trail Blazers ...
Regarding his interview ...
"It went well. I think that they found out what kind of person I am and how I carry myself and who I surround myself with. I think it went well overall."
"I was surprised about how much they knew about my life. I didn't know
that. They did a lot of research on me and they knew a lot of stuff. I
think it was good. it went well overall."
On if he can play alongside fellow point guard Damian Lillard ...
"I think I can play with Damian Lillard. He's a smart player and I believe I'm a smart player myself. I can feed off him and he can feed off me, we make each other better. The point guard, he does make plays and brings up the ball but I think a lot of it has to do, if I get the rebound, just go. And if he gets the rebound he can go and I'll run the floor. I think I can make it work."
