In The Bag: Damian Lillard

By caseyholdahl Posted in: Blazers, damianlillard, Kings, Pacers

We here at Trail Blazers HQ are always trying to find ways to give you a small glimpses into what it's like to be a professional basketball player. With that in mind, we present the continuing series entitled "In The Bag" in which we show you what a member of the Trail Blazers is toting around. And yes, this is almost a complete ripoff of The Fader's excellent "The Things I Carry" series.

You have to be judicious when it comes to packing for a seven-game, twelve-day road trip. Hard decisions have to be made if you don't want to carry around multiple bags, and when you're a rookie, you'll be carrying your own bags AND the bags of a veteran on the team, which only heightens the importance of packing only the essentials and items of clothing that can be worn more than once.

There can be no wasted space, so pieces of luggage such as backpacks and garment bags take on extra importance. A large carry-on, even though we don't really "check" bags, per say, is valuable, and if it's stylish as well, all the better.

Such is the case with Damian Lillard's black Gucci backpack. With a large main compartment and various ancillary pockets, it makes for a valuable bag, both in price and utility. It can easily fit all of the items Damian needs to keep close when traveling to practice or from city to city.

Here's what he's carrying with him:

-- Black Gucci backpack

-- Pair red Beats By Dre Pro headphones
-- 1/4 inch adapter for Beats By Dre Pro headphones

-- Pair black Ray-Ban Wayfarer's
-- Pair black 9Five Crowns by Steve Williams glasses

-- Toenail clippers
-- One quarter
-- Hotel room keycard for the Conrad Hotel
-- Black plastic "CERTIFIED FLYGUYZ" wristband
-- 160 BG iPod
-- HTC One V cell phone
-- iPhone 5 with red OtterBox cover
-- iPhone/iPod charger

-- Personalized leather billfold engraved with "Damian Lillard"

-- Key for Porche Panamera S with keychain

-- Travel sized Speed Stick deodorant, regular scent
-- Hair brush
-- Plastic bag of vitamins

-- Jewelry box containing three pairs of diamond earrings, one black, one gold, one silver

-- Undisclosed amount of cash

  1. Casey; when I read the title, I immediately thought you were going to talk about Damian locking up the rookie of the year this early in the season. :) all kidding aside, I'm real curious as to why he carries one quarter with him. is there a story to that?

  4. "Dame bag" is hilarious. I've personally taken to calling Damian "Lil-0" for his jersey number and why he picked it, and also as a play on "Big O". When I first started using that nickname I had no idea that he'd live up to it the way he has. ("Lillard joined Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history with at least 20 points and seven assists in each of their first three career games.")
