Berger: Rockets Trying To Trick Trail Blazers?
By caseyholdahl Posted in: 2012draft, draft2012
An interesting little line item
from Ken Berger over at CBSSports.com regarding the Trail Blazers, Rockets and Damian Lillard:
Word in front office circles has been consistent that the Rockets' target is Connecticut 7-footer Andre Drummond, although some executives openly wondered Wednesday if that was a smokescreen. Welcome to the 24 hours before the draft. It's possible that Houston's real target is Damian Lillard, whom the Trail Blazers are believed to covet with the sixth pick, sources said.
The Rockets have already made two trade, one sending Chase Budinger to Minnesota
for the No. 18 pick and the other sending the No. 14 pick and Samuel Dalembert to the Bucks
for No. 12 and a bunch of filler, which feeds into the narrative that Houston is trying to put together some kind of super package with the hopes of acquiring Dwight Howard.
Not sure exactly how convincing teams that Drummond is their target, while actually wanting to draft Lillard, helps the Rockets, but hey, I'm just passing this information along.
