Haynes: Numerous Teams Interested In Trading For Jamal Crawford
By caseyholdahl Posted in: JamalCrawford
Chris B. Haynes over at CSNNW.com is reporting that several teams, including the Sixers, Timberwolves and Celtics,
have interest in trading for Jamal Crawford:
The Portland Trail Blazers are fielding trade offers for guard Jamal Crawford and the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Boston Celtics are among the teams actively pursuing the scoring specialist intensely, a league source tells CSNNW.com.
Other teams who have shown diminutive interest are the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns according to a person familiar with the situation.
Crawford was set to become a free agent on June 15, but when Neil Olshey assumed the general manager position a few weeks ago, he and Crawford's camp bumped the deadline for Crawford to exercise his player option to June 29, one day after the draft. If Crawford is traded, that goes down as a very smart move by Olshey, and a very courteous thing for Crawford to do as well.
A week ago, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Crawford would decline his player option and become a free agent with Portland getting nothing in return. And when you sign a player to a two-year deal with a player option after the first year, you kind of expect that. So it would be gravy if the Trail Blazers were able to get ANYTHING in a trade for Crawford.
