Sabonis: 'Better I am not main man, ok?'
By caseyholdahl
Maybe the best thing about Arvydas Sabonis being inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame this weekend is that we're now being treated to some great vintage Arvydas content. Sabas tended to be a tad reclusive, so there's not a ton of stories and videos about the Lithuanian superman available (at least in English), but what is out there is now being "floated up," as we say in the internet content business.
Please to enjoy this video from NBA TV's Hall of Fame Class of 2011 special hosted by Rick Kamla and Steve Smith, a one-time teammate of Sabonis. Smitty's thoughts on playing with Sabas are great, but it's the Ahmad Rashad interview with Arvydas, which I assume is from an addition "Inside Stuff", that really sends this video into orbit.
Arvydas is as aloof as he massive, replying to one of Ahmad's questions by saying "What do you want?" And his response to whether Rashad can refer to Arvydas as his "main man" is classic. Thank you NBA TV. Thank you.
By the way, if you haven't purchased your
$50 tax deductible ticket to the reception with Arvydas on August 18, now might be the time to do so. Hey, what do you want?
