Arvydas Sabonis Only Talks Docs

There's a short interview with the reclusive yet much-beloved Arvydas Sabonis over at Real GM. Sabas briefly discusses his early days in the NBA, differences between the pro game in the States and Europe, his refusal to sing "Happy Birthday" and travel in the NBA.

Arvydas was asked if he still keeps in contact with any of the people who played or worked for the Trail Blazers during his days in Portland, to which he replied...

"Not really, expect (sic) the doctor. I also communicate with physical trainer time after time."

There's a joke in there somewhere. But rather than laugh at our pain, I'd rather laugh at Arvydas doing the robot.

As much as I loved Sheed, I still couldn't believe he threw that towel in Sabonis' face.

That was certainly a low point for Sheed. He lost me that day.

People talk Jordan/Bowie and Durant/Oden, but none of that would have mattered if we had Sabas to go along with the early 90's Blazer teams. Duck was a two-time All-Star in Portland and he would have been the backup! What could have been....But at least we got to witness the best passing big man(at least imo) for a few seasons.

Agree. The towel thing was not cool, because I love them both.

I thought the towel thing was bad also, but Sheed already got a black eye from the something happening about a week before. I don't remember the details, and it doesn't make it OK, but it at least makes it understandable as Sabonis was reeling from a hard foul from Shaq and ran into sheed.

Anyway Rasheed was a great BB player, just couldn't control his emotions.

Arvy was a fantastic player, I wish he would have come to Portland 10 years sooner.
