It's Thursday, which means that Dave Deckard, he of Blazersedge.com, and I, Casey Holdahl of Trailblazers.com, do the responsible thing and record yet another Trailblazers.com Podcast. Only one more of these before training camp, so get your game right.

This week Dave and I start by discussion Kevin Durant's performance during the World Championships (long story short, he was pretty good). We veer toward Blazers topics after that to discuss who's back in town working out, what we might see out of the rookies this year and whether a healthy Greg Oden should start instead of a healthy Marcus Camby. Dave and I actually disagree on something this time around. We know drama.

  1. Greg Oden Must start, absolutely. He's paid way too much and has way too much potential to watch and observe from the bench. It'd be an insult, and show Oden that The Blazers do not value him very much as a player. I'm not saying he has to put in 35 plus minutes, but he must be the starter for this team.

  3. I get your point, but technically, Marcus Camby gets paid more than Greg at this point.

  4. The center starting position should be decided by what is best for the team. If Oden comes back and is not in game shape then Camby should be the starter. When Oden can play the way we all know he can then we should start him. IF he does this half way through the season and you make Oden the starter and it throws off the team you make Camby the starter again. For those of you that think Oden will not open his vast potential because he did not start for a season, you are mistaken.
    Oden will be with us for along time if he does not get hurt(knock knock). I'm all for a player earning his postion and not just being given it. He needs to earn it like everybody else. If Jared Bayless started when he first got here, would he be better just as good or worse then as he is now? Or would sitting on bench make him work harder and drive him to be a winner. Hard to say, but Oden needs to have that jb attitude and maybe backing up a long time hardworking nba center is what Oden needs. some compitition. So i don't think Oden MUST start. He should if he earns it.
