Aldridge's All-Star Game Participation Concludes Successful Weekend

LaMarcus Aldridge grabbed four rebounds, blocked two shots and dished one assist in 11:27 helping the Western Conference win the 2013 All-Star game 143-138. Chris Paul was named the game's MVP with 20 points and 15 assists.
Aldridge provided a little bit of defense in a game without much by getting on the boards and blocking some shots. Aldridge played in his second All-Star game and his participation served as an exclamation point on on a fantastic weekend for the Trail Blazers. Aldridge and Trail Blazers' point guard Damian Lillard represented the Trail Blazers in Houston.
Aldridge said he enjoyed the overall experience more this time around.
"Just overall, more comfortable. This is my second time around, I kinda knew the schedule, I knew the ropes. I wasn't as anxious this time. I thought I knew everybody here and I thought I was more comfortable this time."
Every night of the All-Star weekend featured a Trail Blazer player and the participants, Aldridge and Lillard, did not disappoint. Aldridge's 11:27 concluded the Trail Blazers' great weekend in Houston for this year's All-Star festivities along with Damian Lillard. Lillard scored 18 points in the BBVA Rising Stars game on Friday and then won the Taco Bell Skills Competition on Saturday.
And now, it's back to business for the Trail Blazers on Tuesday. They return to the Rose Garden to face the Phoenix Suns with their sights set on snapping their current five-game losing streak. Aldridge and Lillard will be back as will the rest of the Trail Blazers for the game as the players and coaches have been able to have a break from the season at hand.
Looking back on the All-Star break, it has been a wild first part of the season in Portland. What began on Halloween night against the Los Angeles Lakers with Damian Lillard scoring 23 points and dishing 11 assists has carried on into a season of fun, competitive basketball. In the first 53 games of the season, the Trail Blazers have formed an identity that they will always compete, as their coach Terry Stotts envisioned. However, they are in midst of their second-longest losing streak of the season and they will need their team to come back alert against a lowly ranked but potentially explosive Phoenix Suns. The Suns have also played the Trail Blazers extremely tough, splitting the season series.
Lillard leaves the All-Star weekend with hardware but as he enters the second half of the season, he enters as the unquestioned favorite for the Rookie of The Year award. Lillard currently leads all rookies in scoring, assists and minutes played. Lillard is also averaging 24.5 points per game against Portland's opponent on Tuesday.
The Trail Blazers (25-28) face the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday at the Rose Garden. That game will start at 7PM and be shown on CSNNW and can be heard on 1190 AM and 102.3 FM.
