Trail Blazers: LaMarcus Aldridge Named Western Conference All-Star
"LaMarcus is a premier player in this league and I’m very happy to see him be recognized for his efforts as a player and a leader,” said Trail Blazers Head Coach Nate McMillan. “He improves every season and this is validation for all the hard work he’s put in to become an All-Star.”

Oregon Live: Photos: LaMarcus Aldridge Western Conference All-Star
"LaMarcus Aldridge becomes the Trail Blazers 15th player selected as an All-Star. In his sixth season in the league, Aldridge ranks fifth in the NBA in scoring with his career-best 23.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.12 steals in 26 games this season."

Oregon Live: LaMarcus Aldridge becomes 15th Trail Blazers player selected to NBA All-Star Game
"He's so long and athletic," Cleveland coach Byron Scott said. "He can do it on the post, and he can do it on the perimeter. He runs that floor as well as any big man in this league, and he's a very unselfish, young talented basketball player."

Columbian: Aldridge's message needs to reach teammates
"At 14-12, Portland sits in danger of fading from the playoff picture in what may be the deepest conference the league has seen in years. And when you’re dealing with grown men who cash six-figure paychecks at the start of each month, a coach’s words can only pierce so deep."

Columbian: Aldridge named to NBA All-Star team
“It was kind of surreal,” said Aldridge, adding that he’s received a barrage of congratulations from teammates and friends, but is still waiting to hear from Brandon Roy. “It was a really good moment for me.”

Portland Tribune: Aldridge: "I kind of didn't believe it"
"That was a big surprise to me, but this (all-star selection) has been one of my main goals for a while now, so to actually achieve it means a lot," Aldridge says. "I think this actually means more to me."

Rip City Project: Game 27 Preview: Portland Trail Blazers at New Orleans Hornets
"Along with Kaman, what the Bees do have is a bunch of guys that want to play a grind-it-out, down and dirty, physical style of basketball. Not quite Portland’s best look. The Blazers should have a formula for getting this win. Forget about who’s on the other team, and just play. There aren’t enough guys on NOLA’s roster to defend everybody the Blazers have. If Portland can take advantage of mismatches, punish New Orleans where they are thin, and not try to win the game every time down the floor they should be OK."

Blazersedge: Game 27 Preview: Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Orleans Hornets
"Do you think I'm exaggerating? These guys are on a losing streak that's lasted the whole season. And it's not getting better. They have won 4 times in 26 games. Two of those wins came in their first two outings. That means they're 2-22 since. The Orlando Magic and Denver Nuggets did the honors, Orlando by scoring 67 points (still trying to figure out how they did that on a night when Dwight Howard scored 28) and the Nuggets by scoring 81. In fact the Hornets have not beaten a team that has scored more than 84 points on them. It's Lawler's Law modified: First to 85 wins. Unless it's the Hornets. Then the other team wins anyway."

Ball Don't Lie via ESPN: Brandon Jennings states the obvious regarding his 2014 free agency, everyone goes nuts
"I am going to keep my options open, knowing that the time is coming up,'' Jennings said in an email interview. "I'm doing my homework on big market teams. I'm not saying I won't (sign an extension with the Bucks) and I'm not saying I will,'' he said. "I'm just keeping my options open.''

The Basketball Jomes: Video: ‘Inside the NBA’ stage an intervention for LeBron’s hairline
"Come for the LeBron James receding hairline joke, stay for the minute of Shaq, Charles, Kenny and Ernie laughing like they just learned about laughing. If this were a “Mary Poppins” scene, they’d never stop floating."

The Basketball Jones: Get your Grizzlies Valentine’s Day cards
"You’ll have to be in Memphis tonight for the game against the Pacers to get your hands on these, but I think it’ll be worth it. We’re talking Rudy Gay, Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, O.J. Mayo and Tony Allen on Valentine’s Day cards. How great is that? Tony Allen, telling your girl how much you love her because you can’t find the words. So good."

DIME: Daily Fantasy Basketball Diagnosis: 2.10
"Stephen Curry finished with 36 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and six three-pointers last night against the Nuggets. He shot 77 percent (13-17) from the floor, 57 percent (4-7) from the free-throw line and had one turnover. For the season, Curry is averaging top five numbers, which is a shade better than what was expected of him heading into the season. So long as he’s healthy, Curry will remain a fantasy beast. "

DIME: The 10 Biggest NBA All-Star Snubs
"Is it possible to take Rondo for granted? I think we definitely are. His numbers haven’t dropped at all – 18.90 PER, 13.6 points and 9.6 dimes a night – and the Celtics have finally turned the corner after a slower-than-snail start. Plus, Rondo missed eight games. Eight. Since when did that disqualify someone from the midseason classic? It’s not like he missed the majority of the season. You know another guy who’s missed seven games this season? Some All-Star named Luol Deng, who also ranks 53rd in PER. Total travesty. This one makes no sense to me."

SLAM: Post-Up: Men Of A Certain Age
"Sure, this rivalry was more fun a few years ago, but even with more years on their bodies, Celtics-Lakers is always a fun watch. Then again, both teams shot sub-40 percent last night and a combined 7-34 from three-point range. All you need to know is Boston head coach Doc Rivers had this to say after the game, “I thought this was an awful game.” More awful for his team, in the end. Kobe Bryant scored 27 points (11-24 FGs), Pau Gasol had 25 points and 14 boards, and Andrew Bynum had 16 and 17 as L.A. edged Boston in overtime. The Lakers are 15-11 after seeing Kevin Garnett take a season-high 23 shots—he only made 6, finishing with 12 points. To end the fourth quarter, a Kobe jumper drew iron but Gasol was there for the tip-in, and the Celtics’ final chance with the ball ended with a Mickael Pietrus fadeaway from 35 feet out. Yeah, what a way to send it to overtime!"

Hang Time Blog: The All-Star Double Standard Stinks
"If you’re Rudy Gay, Kyle Lowry, Monta Ellis, Josh Smith or any of the other NBA players who woke up this morning without an All-Star bid, you deserve an explanation."

ESPN: All-Star Game snubs and surprises
"Dirk Nowitzki. Even Dirk admitted that he didn't deserve a selection this year. He's been woefully impotent offensively and took four games off to try and get his body right; not exactly the stuff All-Stars are made of."

ESPN: Cavs keep Kyrie Irving out (concussion)
"Irving, who does not have a history of concussions, was driving to the basket in the fourth quarter Tuesday when he banged into Heat forward Chris Bosh. Irving fell backward and hit his head on Dwyane Wade's knee. He stayed in the game and made two free throws before he was taken out by coach Byron Scott with 1:27 left."
