Trail Blazers: Trail Blazers Vs. Suns Preview
"Lopez was suspended one game without pay for improper conduct towards a game official, it was announced Wednesday by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President Basketball Operations."

Portland Tribunes: Blazers take a liking to their big ‘Rhino’
“ ‘Rhino’ does that kind of stuff all the time,” teammate Jamal Crawford says. “It’s just hustle plays. Don’t ever go to sleep on him.”

Oregon Live: Blog: Trail Blazers' recent struggles easy to pinpoint - guard play and road woes
"I do, I mean, we are above .500 ... does that qualify as a good team?’’ Aldridge asked. “I think we are definitely a good team. We have a lot of learning to do. We went through our bumps and bruises with last crew, with Andre (Miller) and having B (Brandon Roy), and we went through that tough stretch in New Jersey and Philly ... you don’t want to go through these stretches, but you have to learn from them. I think right now we are going through a stretch that we have to learn from. If we don’t figure it out, it can get pretty ugly.’’

Blazersedge: Game 20 Preview: Phoenix Suns vs. Portland Trail Blazers
"Phoenix's defensive trouble traces to a simple source. They're a pace-control, possession-control defense but they can't rebound. Fast break controlled? Check. Lane guarded? Pretty much. Hand in face on shot? OK. Ooops! Where's the ball? If you're willing to play down to their defense, walking the ball and being content with one shot they have a fighting chance against you. If you work at all they'll have trouble stopping you. They just don't have the big men to manage a physical contest. Eventually they get tired of the pounding, their defensive gravity diminishes, and you achieve escape velocity."

Oregon Live Via Sporting News: NBA free agent market gets a boost after players pass on extensions
"Eric Gordon, Hornets; Roy Hibbert, Pacers; Brook Lopez, Nets. The Hornets, still owned by the NBA, received approval to make Gordon a four-year offer, and it was somewhat of a surprise that Gordon—who has played just twice this year because of a bad knee—held out for the full five years, especially because the most he can get on the open market will be four years anyway. He is one of the league's best young scorers, though, and immediately vaulted to the top of many teams' summer wish lists. Hibbert and Lopez, both centers, probably will have whatever offers they receive matched by their teams, but considering the lack of size among potential free agents, they will still draw plenty of interest."

Ball Don't Lie: Why the Hornets might want to see Eric Gordon leave
"It might sound counter-intuitive to say that a rebuilding team with a dearth of talent shouldn't be terribly worried about losing its best player, but the NBA's draft structure actually helps the worst teams in the league. It often only takes one superstar talent to turn things around. Gordon might make the Hornets better, but it's much better for the Hornets' future to be one of three worst teams in the league than among the bottom seven or eight. Given the cheapness of rookie contracts, it's in their financial interest, too."

Ball Don't Lie: Video: Kevin Garnett was in a bar fight
"Before TNT's Craig Sager could even ask a question, KG labeled the game a "bar fight" (presumably one in which a key fighter chooses to become a conscientious objector halfway through), said that Charles Barkley would understand since he'd been in a real one before, and claimed that Doc Rivers has never told him "something that wasn't true" in the entire time he's been in Boston. Oh, and then he congratulated Ray Allen on his new baby and complimented Sager on his suit. I guess he really likes lavender."

The Basketball Jones: Metta World Peace: ‘I got bored with defense’
"The interesting thing is that this is pretty much MWP admitting he hasn’t been as good defensively as he should be. Sure, he’s phrasing it along the lines of he’s been so good for so long that even he takes it for granted, but even that is ceding that he isn’t trying as hard as he should be. Even if he’s bored, like he says, he also seems to have just realized that he still needs to try hard. And considering his defense has fallen off considerably, he’s right about that."

DIME: Daily Fantasy Basketball Diagnosis: 1.27
"Marc Gasol finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals last night against the Clippers. He shot 42 percent (5-12) from the field, 100 percent (8-8) from the free-throw line and had zero turnovers. Gasol gets some much-deserved attention here, since he’s been steadily putting up top 10 numbers so far this season. His stats will inevitably decline when Zach Randolph returns, but Gasol was still putting up top 10 numbers when Randolph was in the lineup. "

DIME: Buy Low, Sell High: Fantasy Basketball Week 5
"Gerald Wallace has been the definition of unreliable lately. After a hot start to the season, Wallace has seen his value plummet since the middle of January. In his eight games since Jan. 13, Crash has shot 42 percent from the field and 48 percent from the free-throw line. For the season, he’s still shooting 48 percent from the field and 65 percent from the line. Add to this his bothersome sprained finger and it’s easy to call him a good bet for a discounted price. As his finger heals, expect Wallace’s fantasy value to do likewise."

DIME: Who’s Better: Kyle Lowry Or Rajon Rondo?
"Kevin McHale has all but given him the keys to the whip and he’s run with it in H-Town like fellow Philly native Meek Mill does so back at home. Posting a stat-line of 15.9 points, 8.8 dimes, 6.9 boards, and 2.0 cookies while shooting 40 percent from the field, 38 percent from downtown and 88 percent from the charity line, Lowry is a making a strong case to be an All-Star. His assists, rebounds, steals and free-throw shooting rank him third, first, fifth, and second among all PGs, respectively. The fact that he’s putting up near triple-double numbers on a nightly basis with Samuel Dalembert and Chandler Parsons starting alongside him means he’s making the most from what he’s got – not to mention that he’s stuck with players like Jordan Hill and Hasheem Thabeet off the pine."

SLAM via Orlando Sentinel: Dwight Howard: Orlando Magic Need to ‘Change’
"Howard intimated that teammates didn’t stick to their roles Thursday night’s loss to Boston. “We didn’t play the right way and we have to change,” he said. “Everybody just can’t come down (the floor) and feel like they have to take the game over. You just have to play team-ball and play the way we want to play. We didn’t do that.” Howard included himself in the meltdown inwhich the Magic lost a 27-point lead. He finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds, but didn’t steady the ship as the lead dwindled and got into early foul trouble."

Hang Time Blog: Ankle Fracture Sidelines Bogut
"He led the league in blocked shots last season playing with virtually one hand. He had surgery in April on his right elbow, the same one he injured during an infamous April 2010 during a dunk attempt against the Suns where he landed on his own arm. That injury cost him the 2010 playoffs, when the Bucks pushed the Hawks to seven games in a first round series."

    ESPN: Daily Dime
"We need to hang our hats on the defensive end for 48 minutes," Tony Allen said."
