Trail Blazers Face Kings In Back-To-Back Season Opener

    The Portland Trail Blazers host the Sacramento Kings tonight at the Rose Garden in the second of a two game back-to-back to open the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm with the match-up airing on Comcast SportsNet and broadcast over the airwaves on 750 AM The Game.

    Both the Trail Blazers (1-0) and the Kings (1-0) opened their seasons last night with wins. Portland bested the Philadelphia 76ers 107-103 while Sacramento topped the LA Lakers 100-91.

    Last season, eight Kings averaged at least 9.0 points against the Trail Blazers, led by Tyreke Evans who averaged 21.0 points on 55.2 percent shooting, 7 assists and 2.5 steals. In their home opener against the Lakers last night four Kings broke into double digits. Evans and Marcus Thornton both scored twenty points or more.

    Portland and Sacramento played fairly evenly against’t separate opponents yesterday. The Trail Blazers shot 41.2 percent from the field, pulled down 50 rebounds and put up 38 points in the paint. The Kings shot 46.7 percent, nabbed 40 rebounds and scored 30 points in the paint.

    Portland is 74-14 against the Kings all-time while playing at home. The squad has also won nine of the last ten meetings between the two, including the last five games on the road in Sacramento.

    Tonight’s game can be seen locally on Comcast 37 with Mike Barrett and Mike Rice. Brian Wheeler and Antonio Harvey will have the call on 750 AM The Game and on all of the stations of the Trail Blazers Radio Network.
