Trail Blazers: 2011 Mock Draft Database

    DIME: We Reminisce: Drazen Petrovic
"June 7, 1993 ended in tragedy for Drazen Petrovic. Coming off a season that saw him make the All-NBA 3rd Team by averaging over 22 points a night on 52% from the field, Petrovic was killed in a car accident in Germany. He was 28 years old."

Trail Blazers: Predraft Workout: Matthew Bryan-Amaning "Every summer I end up going back to play with the national team, kind of get an atmosphere of how it is playing with pros and that pro kind of lifestyle," said Bryan-Amaning, who was one of six players to workout for the Trail Blazers on June 6. "All those guys on the national team are a majority of pros and they've been through the same process before."

Oregon Live: NBA draft 2011: Should the Trail Blazers draft Josh Selby?
"Selby was, in a word, awesome in the workouts I saw in Vegas. At Kansas, Selby looked wild, out of control and oddly unathletic. He struggled to create space from himself and made a number of bad decisions with the ball and in his shot selection. In Vegas he once again resembled the superstar we saw in high school. He was explosive athletically, got to the basket at will and shot the ball very well from range. In 3-on-3 games, the UCLA Bruins' Malcolm Lee -- a terrific perimeter defender -- struggled to stay in front of Selby, who finished above the rim with a number of impressive dunks."

Portland Tribune: Trail Blazers scour ‘average’ draft
“Last year, we had three draft picks,” McMillan said. “I’d like to see us add some guys in their prime to the roster. We have young; we have old. Let’s see if we can get some guys in their prime.”

Ball Don't Lie: Charles Barkley ‘can’t root for’ the Miami Heat
"Yeah, they have the worst fans. No question. It's not even loud in there. You're at the game and you are like, 'Man this place isn't even loud.' At least when you go to Chicago, it's loud in there, it's crazy down in Dallas but it's not even loud in Miami."

Ball Don't Lie: Tony Parker claims he never said the Spurs were also-rans
"A few weeks ago, the French sporting paper L'Equipe quoted Spurs guard Tony Parker as saying that the Spurs are a good team no longer playing for championship rings. After their first-round loss at the hands of the eighth-seeded Grizzlies, it wasn't a particularly controversial statement. Yet it was still pretty weird to hear from a player who needs to be confident to succeed, especially when his team was just one win away from having the best regular-season record in the NBA this season."

The Basketball Jones: Mavericks winning crucial high-five battle
"The Mavericks, with 250 slaps, hugs, taps or bumps, are almost twice as touchy-feely as the Heat, who had only 134 instances of televised contact. In those three games, the Mavericks were 82% more likely to high five."

SLAM: Mock: Jordan Hamilton, No. 18
"We’re baffled that Hamilton’s on the board, and we’re ecstatic to have him. In the long run, we’d love to see Jordan work on his slash game and his defense. His game is geared on being more crafty than athletic, although he’s quicker than you think. And if he can just stay in front of people, that would make life easier on our young bigs trying to protect the rim. Could he be a Joe Johnson/Stephen Jackson type? It’s possible, but for this team we need someone who can be reliable and consistent (looking at you Rashard “I’m still owed $46 million over the next two years so I’m not tripping” Lewis). Jordan will evolve into our sixth man, and hopefully we can use him in a similar fashion that OKC uses James Harden—a versatile player who can play the 2 or the 3 and give us an immediate scoring punch. Hamilton could be perfect for this young Wizards squad."

DIME: Top 10 Allen Iverson Sneakers Of All Time
"The classic shoe that Iverson wore when he famously crossed up Jordan. Released in September of 1996 for Iverson’s rookie year, they were stable, comfortable and had great court traction. The red/white and black/white versions were the most iconic, yet Reebok would continue to release new colorways, even during Iverson’s tenure with the Nuggets. The Mid version of the Questions also became a fan-favorite."

ESPN: What hidden edge do the Mavs have that's keeping them in this series?
"Tyson Cleotis Chandler. You want to know why LeBron James hasn't gotten into the paint? This 7-footer has a lot to do with it. He's a house out there, walling off any pick-and-roll penetration and patrolling the paint. He won't resonate with the casual fan because of his low scoring totals, but if he can stay on the floor as he has been, the Mavericks will do more than just keep up with the Heat."

    ESPN: Daily Dime
"On our opening meeting the beginning of the year it was something we talked in great detail about and put forth some goals: that if we wanted to be a championship-contending team, we had to get into the top 10 [defensively]," Carlisle said."
